Where’d those five days go?
I was talking to my mother tonight, and pointed out that tomorrow night will be the next episode of “Lost”. The time between the last one and now passed in an eyeblink. I swear, it feels like we watched the last episode of “Lost” yesterday night. Obviously I have to get out and have some fun a little more often, because I’d forgotten that five days don’t have to drag by and feel like half a month or more.
When I have the chance, I’ll ramble about my trip to the Bay Area and all the lovely people I got to see again after much too long a time apart. But I should probably make some small attempt at sleep since I have classes tomorrow/later today. Besides, thanks to a little surprise when I got home, I’m using my mother’s computer and don’t want to wake her with the rattle of my fingernails on the keyboard. I should be able to move back out to my room sometime tomorrow or the day after. But right now, my room smells of raw sewage and the carpet is a swamp because of a problem with the pipes that led to my toilet backing up while I was gone. It apparently happened every time anyone took a shower in the main house. Water pressure built, and pushed a clog deep in the pipes right up into the toilet in my garage room, and then out all over the floor, flooding the half bath and my bedroom. The clog was taken care of today, and tomorrow the cleaners will be coming to deal with the mess of a carpet and disinfect/deodorize. But it’s really a pretty minor thing, and doesn’t overshadow the good that my trip to see folks in the Bay Area did me.
Now, even though I feel pretty awake, time for me to try to get some sleep. 9 is very early for someone with my problems sleeping.

I’m packing now. I’ll be hitting the road soon for the Bay Area, and heading back home sometime Sunday. I will, as usual, be unreachable via LJ entries and comments or email during that time. I’ll be staying in Mountain View at the Pacific Inn. If you want to get hold of me while I’m there, call my cell phone or text me (LJ text messaging is turned on for those on my friends list who don’t have my number.) I estimate that I’ll arrive in the Bay Area and check into my hotel around 8pm.
I’ll be at King of Clubs in Mountain View tonight for kareoke. I expect I’ll see at least some of you there.
Gaaneden, since you’ll also be in town, we should make some arrangements to meet up sometime.
Drewkitty, you know that insanity of your work schedule and I don’t. If you have an opportunity to hang out, that’d be great, but I absolutely understand if work does not allow.
Lokiz_Mom, insane computer issues have been fixed and I can print and bring the form. I understand you’ll be at KoC tonight, so I’ll hand it off to you there, if that works for you. If you don’t know the sheer amount of computer insanity that has been going on here, including several months where I had no access or only sporadic access to the intarweb, Sylvan knows at least some of what’s been going on since about last July. Apologies.
My mom, by the way, is a computer jinx.
